why goal 13 was founded
Annie B. founded Goal 13 following the sudden loss of her son, Holden Trent, in October 2024. She and Holden often talked about the challenges student-athletes face and the importance of giving them the tools to succeed both on and off the field. Holden recognized key areas where young athletes could benefit from more support—especially in topics like nutrition, fitness, financial literacy, and education.
Drawing on her own professional experience working with young people who needed guidance, structure, and encouragement, Annie B. saw a clear opportunity to turn those shared conversations into action. While founding a nonprofit had always been her dream, Holden’s insight helped shape its purpose. By combining her vision with his passion for helping others, Annie B. created Goal 13 to honor his memory and provide meaningful support to student-athletes.
our mission
At Goal 13, we empower student-athletes to excel beyond the field by fostering a holistic approach to their development. Our mission is to cultivate an environment where education, positive mindset, and physical well-being converge, equipping young athletes with the tools they need to thrive not only in sports but in life. Through mentorship, coursework, resources, and support, we strive to inspire resilience, academic achievement, and lifelong healthy habits, enabling each student-athlete to excel, grow, and realize their full potential.
Character Education & Community Partnerships
What started as a vision to bring character development to the forefront of youth sports has quickly grown into a movement. In our first year, Goal 13 created a series of powerful, professional character education videos featuring the voices and values of top-tier athletes—designed to inspire the next generation.
To accompany the videos, we also developed a structured character education curriculum. The goal is to expand its reach by partnering with other nonprofit organizations that mentor young student-athletes.
Curriculum topics include:
Attitude
Effort & Drive
Perseverance & Humility
Team-First Mentality
Empathy & Respect
Composure, Integrity, Loyalty & Courage
By equipping more youth-focused programs with these resources, Goal 13 aims to foster leadership, resilience, and strong personal character in student-athletes nationwide.
