Director’s Message

By Founder Annie B. Carter

October was quite a month for Goal 13.

From the 2nd Annual Holden Trent Goal 13 Golf Tournament to Kicks for a Cause, I was reminded again and again just how fortunate we are to have such an incredible community surrounding this foundation.

To every sponsor, donor, golfer, guest, volunteer, friend, and family member who showed up, gave, helped, encouraged, and supported us — THANK YOU. Your generosity means more than I can ever fully express.

This month was also especially meaningful with the publication of Adam Crafton’s article in The Athletic about Holden. It not only discussed his journey in soccer, but also shared the person he was, the challenges he faced, and the legacy he continues to leave behind.

Goal 13 is deeply personal to me because it was inspired by Holden and the way he lived his life. The values he carried with him continue to guide the work we do. Seeing so many people embrace this mission and help us carry it forward is something I will never take for granted.

Thank you for continuing to show up for Holden, for Goal 13, and most importantly, for the young student-athletes we have the privilege of serving.

I am truly grateful.
