Players of the Month: Hector & Thomas

At Goal 13, growth is measured by more than performance—it’s about who these young athletes are becoming. This month, we are proud to recognize Hector and Thomas as our Players of the Month for the way they are embracing character, mentorship, and development both on and off the field.

Hector has fully leaned into the Goal 13 experience, understanding that talent alone is not enough. Through the character education program, he has recognized that being a strong player must go hand in hand with being a strong person. He has taken meaningful lessons from his mentor and has been especially engaged in both the character development series and nutrition sessions. In his own words, “Goal 13’s nutritionist helped me find my perfect pregame snack. I usually eat a granola bar and a banana.” It’s a simple reflection, but one that shows his commitment to improving every part of his game—physically and mentally.

Thomas has also shown tremendous growth, embodying what Goal 13 stands for. He understands that success in sport means little without character to support it. As he shared, “I think programs like Goal 13 matter because you can be really good at a sport you play on the field, but off the field you need to be a good person, be humble and have good character. That’s where Goal 13 really shines.” Thomas has embraced the relationships built through the program and has used them to push himself further. He noted, “I have learned to always give one hundred percent on and off the field. I have really shown myself how much I really want this.”

His mentor’s guidance has played a key role in that growth, teaching him to persevere through challenges, stay humble, and find joy in each moment—lessons that will extend far beyond the game.

Hector and Thomas represent exactly what Goal 13 is all about—young student-athletes committed to becoming the best versions of themselves. We are proud of their dedication, their growth, and the example they are setting for others.
